National Association of Women in Construction

The Boise Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction has been active in the Treasure Valley since 1978. We strive to meet our core purpose of enhancing the success of women in the construction industry.
Our chapter holds many events throughout the year to expose children and adolescents to the career opportunities the construction industry offers them. One such event is our annual MAGIC (Mentor a Girl in Construction) camp. This is a week long camp for middle school girls to learn construction skills through hands on lessons. By the end of the week they have a grasp of safety, carpentry, electrical, and masonry work. Another event we sponsor is the Block Kids competition for elementary school children. In this competition the children are given blueprint paper, connector blocks, a rock, string and tin foil. With these items the children create a plan for a building or structure and then execute their plan.
We also support students who have chosen an aspect of construction as their career by offering college and trade school scholarships. These scholarships are available to Idaho students seeking a construction related degree or a trade certificate in a construction related field. Through our fundraising efforts we have been able to award over $5,000 in scholarship money for the past several years.
